TROY DEFENSE 5.56 CARBINE

Troy Industries is one of the industry leaders in M4 accessories for law enforcement and military units worldwide. Its back-up iron sights, rails and stocks are battle-proven, setting the standards for quality and durability. Many AR manufacturers in the U.S. have chosen to equip their rifles with Troy accessories. These include Smith & Wesson, Sturm Ruger, LaRue Tactical, LWRC International and Heckler & Koch Defense. As a result, Troy Industries is one of the U.S.’ largest suppliers of OEM small-arms accessories.

According to Troy’s website, its Individual Carbine (IC), Troy’s submission to the program, is “completely ambidextrous, offers full modularity to accommodate all modern military components, features infrared stealth coating and introduces a redesigned gas impingement system.” And now a commercial equivalent of that weapon is available as the Troy Defense 5.56 Carbine.

Gun Details

The 5.56 Carbine is being sold in either a “pre-ban” or “post-ban” version. While the firearm is mainly geared for civilian shooters, it is also excellent for law enforcement officers. The basic weapon consists of an upper and lower receiver that are forged from aircraft-grade 7075-T6 aluminum then black hardcoat anodized. The 5.56 Carbine features all of the traditional M4/M16 operating controls, including a bolt-assist assembly. The bolt is made from Carpenter 158 steel and has been magnetic-particle inspected and high-pressure tested. troydefense.com.

The carbine features a Troy Enhanced CQB Pistol Grip. For testing I replaced the mil-spec fire controls with a Wilson Combat Tactical Trigger Unit.
