The U.S., Israel and Greece will soon begin Noble Dina 2014, an annual, two-week naval exercise in the Mediterranean Sea. According to Defense News, this year’s drill — the fourth conducted by the three countries — involves various military personnel on advanced surface ships, air assets and submarines.
Military forces from all three countries will participate in search and rescue, sea maneuvering, anti-submarine warfare (ASW), and command-and-control missions, in addition to undersea divers and other specialists conducting missions geared toward joint port protection, Defense News said.
“It’s a long, complex and extremely substantive exercise aimed at enhancing the already significant coordination and interoperability among the three navies,” Rear Adm. Yaron Levi, chief of staff of the Israel Navy, told Defense News.
The US Navy’s Sixth Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, will participate in the exercise.
