Umarex AirJavelin: New Arrow-Shooting Rifle Comes in at Less Than $170

About 10 days ago we gave you the exclusive on the Umarex AirSaber. In case you missed it, the AirSaber is a bolt-action air rifle that fires arrows at more than 450 fps. Well, Umarex just announced the AirSaber’s “little brother,” officially named the Umarex AirJavelin.

We got our first look at the AirJavelin back at the 2019 Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous (hence the above photos). It definitely hits a similar fun factor to that of the AirSaber, but what are the differences?

Umarex AirJavelin Details

Firstly, the AirJavelin uses CO2 cartridges, as opposed to the AirSaber, which is a PCP (precharged pneumatic) rifle. Using a patent-pending pre-charged valve system, the AirJavelin launches 170-grain carbon arrows at more than 300 fps. However, as previously mentioned, the AirSaber hits more than 450 fps; that should be expected given the CO2.

Then there’s MSRP. The AirSaber comes in at $369.99, which is actually pretty cheap. The AirJavelin, however, comes in at a much lower MSRP of $169 — again, we cite the CO2.

As far as the build goes, the stock is adjustable to fit everyone from youth to adults. The AirJavelin also delivers more than 34 foot-pounds of energy normally associated with compound bows. With that in mind, Umarex says “the AirJavelin has the power to cleanly harvest any small game or predator in North America.”

Lightweight, the AirJavelin comes in at 3.9 pounds. It comes equipped with open sights, but shooters have the ability to add a dot sight or scope. It has a full-length Picatinny rail on the top along with a short section below the muzzle. Umarex also equipped both sides of its fully adjustable stock with M-LOK slots. According to Umarex, with its consumable 88-gram CO2 cartridges the AirJavelin launches dozens of its “Straight Flight Technology arrows downrange on a single tank.”

An Umarex 2x12g CO2 adapter (not included) also installs on the AirJavelin, making it handy for shorter shooting sessions. MSRP on the adapter is $29.99. Each AirJavelin comes with three arrows. Umarex expects it to be available before the end of January 2020. Lastly, for more information, please visit UmarexUSA.com.
