USA Today Posts ‘Chainsaw Bayonet’ AR Mod Video, Internet Laughs

USA Today inadvertently stepped in it by posting a video on its Twitter account that showed a “chainsaw bayonet” as a possible modification for an AR-15.

The video—which was created to stir conversation over the recent church shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas—starts off with an image of the Ruger AR-556 with the caption reading “Texas Church Gunman’s AR-15 Style Rifle.” It goes on to highlight the included components in the base model, including the stock, front and rear sights, handguard, 30-round magazine and trigger. It then shows the mods one could make to the rifle, including an “underbarrel 12-gauge shotgun” and a “chainsaw bayonet.”

USA Today quickly followed up the video with another tweet that said the following:

Naturally, the video was heavily lampooned, with users quickly responding with their own AR “modifications.” The first user to respond suggested adding a second AR with a “chainsaw bayonet” attachment underneath the first one.

Since fidget spinners are all the rage right now, why not make that an AR mod?

You just knew it was a matter of time until somebody brought in Chuck Norris.
