The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) is in the market for a new riflescope.

Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division—the Indiana-based installation that procures and tests weapon systems and optics for USSOCOM—has put out a solicitation for what’s being termed the Squad-Variable Powered Scope (S-VPS). Details are restricted on FedBizOpps, but Soldier Systems says the program was discussed at the 2017 Armament Systems Forum earlier this year, and it appears the scope is intended for use out to 600m.
The solicitation calls for the submission of both first and second focal plane scopes. The first focal plane scope and other CLINs (Contract Line Item Number) will be 100% set-aside for small business. The second focal plane scope and associated CLINs will be full and open competition. Interested parties will submit 12 samples per scope at no cost to the government.
The procurement is a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) supply contract with five one-year options. The contract is for a minimum of 32 units, for an estimated maximum of $33.25 million. According to the solicitation, “the Government intends to award to the responsible offeror(s) whose offer constitutes the best value to the Government, considering technical, delivery, past performance, and price related factors.”
The deadline to respond to this USSOCOM solicitation is Dec. 8 at 2pm EST.
