Utah Woman Uses Desert Eagle to Open Fire On Intruder

An intruder at a home in South Jordan, Utah got more than he bargained for when he came face-to-face with a female homeowner armed with a Desert Eagle pistol last Wednesday night.

According to ABC4 Utah, the homeowner — identified for safety reasons only as Julie — said she was home alone in her bedroom when she noticed that her bedroom door kept moving.

“I was watching the door and it kept opening and I saw a man peek his head around my bedroom door,” Julie said.

Startled, the homeowner screamed and then grabbed the gun she keeps next to her bed.

“I kicked my door shut and then fired to hopefully scare him away,” Julie said.

As ABC4 Utah reports, Julie fired one shot, which passed through one wall and another near the stairs. She then dialed 911 as she prepared to fire again, but the suspect had already fled the scene by running down the stairs and out the front door.

Police arrived and determined that the suspect entered the home through an unlocked second floor window.

Julie said she’s glad she had her Desert Eagle at her bedside that night.

“It definitely scared him,” said Julie. “I live by myself that’s mainly why I have a gun for home protection and keep it next to my night stand by my bed.”

Police are still looking for the suspect, described by ABC4 Utah as a white male in his mid 20s.
