As the 300 Blackout continues to grow in popularity, the call for a version more typical of law enforcement use is being heard. For most agencies or entry teams, 10.5-inch-barreled ARs seem to be the sweet spot. These guns are compact, easy to maneuver in tight spaces and capable of being stored in less-conspicuous packs and bags.
While the 5.56mm NATO can suffer some ballistic challenges with this barrel length, it is just about perfect for the 300 BLK. You get maximum ballistic efficiency from supersonic loads while subsonic loads will still run well. Thus, Daniel Defense is offering its new version, the DDM4 300S as a factory-made short-barreled rifle (SBR).
Starting with the company’s proven forged receivers, Daniel Defense uses a 10.3-inch, cold-hammer-forged, chrome-moly-vanadium steel barrel with the proprietary Strength 2 Weight (S2W) profile.
Surrounding the barrel and pinned, low-profile gas block made from hardened steel is Daniel Defense’s 9-inch DDM4 Rail, which provides a super-strong yet light platform for mounting accessories.
All internals, including the M16-profile bolt carrier, are mil-spec, magnetic particle (MP) tested, chrome lined and properly staked. Daniel Defense’s patented grip, stock and Santoprene rail panels are included to keep things comfortable under harsh conditions.
