LWRC recently started shipping its new IC-PDW, which is the latest SBR that is based on the company’s highly successful Individual Carbine (IC) architecture.

The lower receiver features ambidextrous operating controls that are designed for ease of use. The Monoforge upper receiver features a low-profile rail that has threaded positions on the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock axes allowing the user to mount rail sections where required.

LWRCI’s Skirmish backup sights and oversized, ambidextrous charging handle are also standard features. The 8.5-inch barrel is cold-hammer forged for enhanced accuracy and durability.

As with other LWRC rifles, the IC-PDW uses the company’s patented self-regulating, short-stroke piston system.

The key to the IC-PDW is the redesigned buffer tube, stock and recoil management system. The buffer tube has been shorted by approximately 3 inches.

Internally, the bolt carrier group has been shortened and the buffer is an integral part. In addition, a flat wire buffer spring is used for proper cycling of the bolt.

Finally, a collapsible stock rides on two steel rails. The stock is released via a button on the right side of the buffer tube.

I set up my test rifle with a SureFire Mini Scout that was installed using S&S Precision’s low mount. The S&S mount tucked the light against the rail at 11 o’clock and significantly reduced the overall profile.

I also installed an Aimpoint Micro T-2 red dot using a LaRue Tactical mount. The quality white light and red-dot optic made the IC-PDW an effective platform, even in low light.
