VIDEO: Springfield Armory’s Suppressor-Ready XDM Pistol

Springfield Armory’s XDM series of pistols continues to remain among the most popular on the market today. Accurate and comfortable to shoot with light recoil and user-friendly ergonomics, many shooters prefer them for self-defense and duty use.

Springfield Armory continues to refine its lineup and add features based on feedback from real-world users. One of the most consistently asked-for features over the last year was for the addition of a threaded barrel. Springfield Armory listened, and now the wait is over with the introduction of the XDM 4.5” Full Size – Threaded Barrel.

Suppressors are starting to gain traction in the mainstream for just about any firearm, pistols included. In order to make them work, a threaded barrel is required however.

Springfield Armory has come through with two models based on its XDM 4.5” pistol line. Offered in either .45 ACP or 9mm, these pistols offer the tactical or self-defense shooter several upgrades.

The 5.28-inch threaded barrel includes a knurled thread protector. The new pistols offer .5×28 threading in 9mm and .5278×28 in .45 ACP, the most common thread patterns. The pistols’ sights have also been made taller to accommodate most suppressors on the market.

All of the other XDM features owners are accustomed to having are included in the threaded-barrel variants, like interchangeable grips, an ambidextrous magazine release and grip safety. The threaded-barrel XDM models offer a 19+1 capacity in 9mm and 13+1 in .45 ACP.

Take a look at my short video of some of the testing I was able to perform with the Flat Dark Earth-finished 9mm model. During testing, targets were engaged from 7 to 25 yards with various types of ammunition.
