VIDEO: The All-New Ruger American Pistol In 9mm

At first glance, the Ruger American Pistol looks like most modern polymer-framed semi-autos. It uses a one-piece, high-performance, glass-filled nylon frame surrounding a rigid, one-piece, precision-machined, black nitrided, stainless steel chassis with integral frame rails and the pistol’s fire control housing. That sounds like several new semi-autos that utilize integrated fire control housings, but this one is unique to Ruger, which was designed with input from police, military trainers and firearms experts for enhanced safety, greater precision and less felt recoil.

Out of this came several prominent features, including fully ambidextrous controls like the slide and magazine releases. This makes the American Pistol suitable for a vast number of end-users. The pistol also features Novak LoMount Carry white-dot sights, interchangeable “grip modules” that adjust the backstrap and palm swell, a Picatinny rail for mounting accessories and plenty of integrated safeties for easy operation and maintenance procedures.
