Volquartsen Firearms just announced the return of an interesting product, one that seems right on time with current trends in suppressed firearms. The Volquartsen Firefly Bolt optimizes running subsonic, suppressed ammo through the Ruger 10/22 platform.
Volquartsen Firefly Bolt 2.0
“It’s safe to say that shooting suppressed 22s has never been more popular than it is right now. With increasing customer demand, we decided there was no better time to bring back the Firefly Bolt,” said Volquartsen Firearms President Scott Volquartsen.
the CNC-machined, Type III hard-anodized aluminum bolt comprises a lightweight component. Volquartsen designed it to cycle with a wide range of subsonic ammo. It runs everything from CCI Quiets, rated at 710 fps, to subsonic .22 LR rated at 1,050 fps.
Volquartsen’s recoil rod enables easy changes of the recoil rod. In addition to the ability to change springs, these new recoil rods are precision-ground, hardened A-2 rods varying no more than .001″ over the length of the part which means incredibly smooth cycling.
The Firefly Bolt comes standard with two springs, allowing the shooter to tune the bolt for their setup. It also comes with Volquartsen’s round titanium firing pin and heavy-duty extractor. A hardened steel lug safeguards the aluminum bolt against hammer wear, ensuring long-lasting performance.
Suppressor or not, the Firefly Bolt eliminates malfunctions for smooth, subsonic shooting.
The bolt retails for $170. For more info, visit volquartsen.com.
Editor’s Note:
A lot of data points often have to come together to set a trend. For the incredible uptick in suppressor use, much of those data points trace to improved wait times on ATF forms. But as interest swells, we now get to experience a second wave as new gear proliferates the market. Suppressors continue to soar, and the Ruger 10/22 remains one of the most popular platforms on which to hang a can. Good move here by Volquartsen to update a product seemingly built for just the right time.
