The Ruger 10/22 is one of the most popular .22 LR rifle platforms due to its reliability, accuracy, and easy customization. For this reason, companies have made aftermarket accessories and upgrades for the platform for years. The Volquartsen Open Sight Lightweight Barrel for the 10/22
Constructed of a stainless-steel barrel fitted with a woven carbon fiber tube creates air space between the barrel and sleeve. As a result, this helps the barrel remain cool during rapid-fire conditions. In addition, the carbon fiber’s rigidity allows the barrel to be put in tension. This helps minimize barrel vibrations often found on smaller barrel diameters.
Sitting atop the barrel are open sights designed with a focus on rapid target acquisition. The rear sight comes in the form of an XS Ghost Ring with an internal diameter of .191-inch. Coupled with the rear sight is a Williams Gun Sight fiber optic front sight with a diameter of .060-inch, in either red or green.
The 16.75-inch barrel has a twist rate of 1:16 and features a laser-hardened breech. Likewise, the barrel includes a ½ x 28 threaded muzzle for attaching a suppressor or other muzzle device. However, it includes a thread protector when no muzzle device is in place.
Volquartsen has incorporated the barrel into a full rifle configuration for small game hunters and competitive shooters. The rifle features a CNC-machined Volquartsen stainless steel receiver bedded in the Magpul X-22 Hunter Stock. Correspondingly, the receiver is drilled and tapped to accept a Volquartsen Picatinny rail or universal red dot mount.
Additionally, the rifle features a DLC-coated, machined Volquartsen competition bolt. Likewise, rounds are sent downrange via a Volquartsen TG2000 trigger guard and a 2.25-pound trigger.
