Designed with both hunting and competition in mind, the Summit bolt action rifle from Volquartsen offers .22 WMR and .17 HMR options. Inspired by the 10/22 style platform, the rifle is available in multiple different stock variations. Likewise, the integral Picatinny rail provides a glass mounting option for rimfire long-range shooting.
The Volquartsen Summit Bolt Action .22 WMR and .17 HMR
Offered with either a Type III Hard Anodized aluminum or stainless-steel receiver, the Summit has many models to choose from. Easily distinguishable, the aluminum receiver features a black finish, while the stainless-steel receiver maintains the stainless-steel finish. Each receiver features an integral 0 MOA Picatinny rail for enhanced accuracy during competition or on the hunt.
Additionally, the straight-pull toggle bolt action provides quick cycling for fast follow-up shots without affecting your sight picture. The receiver rests in your choice of stock out of seven different options. These include everything from wood stocks to the Superlite stock from Hogue. However, if you already have a stock you prefer, you can purchase the barreled action only.
As with the stocks, the Summit is available with your choice of barrel option—chambered in .22 WMR or .17 HMR—from lightweight to fluted stainless steel. The Lightweight barrels are laser-hardened and measure 16.75 inches. However, the stainless-steel barrels measure 18 inches and come in smooth or fluted (straight, snake, or I-Flute) options.
With the exception of one option, all barrels feature 1/2×28 threaded muzzle for attaching a suppressor. Additionally, the .22 WMR barrels feature a 1:14 twist rate, while the .17 HMR has a 1:9 twist rate.
Rounds are sent downrange via the TGS Summit trigger group with a 2.75-pound pull. Each rifle includes a 9-round magazine, which is easily removed from the rifle with the ambidextrous Rapid Release magazine release.
“When we started manufacturing the Summit in 22 LR, we knew that caliber was only the beginning of what was possible from the straight-pull toggle bolt design. We applied what we learned in refining the Summit 22 LR and knew it would be ideal for a 22 WMR and 17 HMR version,” commented Volquartsen President Scott Volquartsen.
