Springfield 911 9mm Pistol Review

A few years ago, Springfield introduced the 911 in .380 ACP. The pistol came with many features similar to 1911s in a smaller package. However, shooters quickly asked about a more powerful version. So, the company answered with the Springfield 911 9mm pistol. In fact, Springfield Armory brought out five models of this subcompact pistol.

Just like the original, the 911 9mm comes with an aluminum frame and stainless-steel slide. It also comes with a full-length guide rod, ambidextrous thumb safety and loaded chamber indicator, as well as Octo-Grip texturing on the frontstrap. Combined with the Hogue Thin-Line G10 grips,  this pistol provides a comfortable and reassuring grip. This pistol also features, however, a Hogue enhanced pivoting G10 trigger for a clean, consistent trigger pull, along with a precision broached barrel for accuracy beyond standard ranges for a pistol of this size.

The 911 9mm also comes with Pro-Glo Tritium/Luminescent front sights and white-dot outlined Tritium rear sights. As such, these low-profile sights provide fast target acquisition in all lighting conditions.

However, despite the increased power and additional features, the 911 9mm is barely larger than the .380 version. It weighs only a few ounces more and measures a mere .4 inches more in length.

Now, there are five models of the 911 9mm from which to choose. Shooters can purchase the black Nitride and stainless slides both with and without green laser Viridian grips, or a black Nitride with Hogue rubber wrap-around grips. The lasers add $190 to the retail price, while the Hogue grips reduces the price by $20.

All of them, however, keep true to the ergonomics of the 1911 in a compact pistol.
