Wilson has now introduced the compact version of the ULC called the Ultralight Carry Compact model. The dimensions of the new model correspond to a Colt Officers Model frame with a Commander slide.
Twenty-nine—that is the number of 1911 models Wilson Combat now offers to their discerning clients. The models range from full-size 5-inch Government Models to the sub-compact Officers Models with a variety of options to meet the enduser’s needs. I don’t think that even Bill Wilson could ever have imagined this level of success when he started working on 1911s in the back of his father’s jewelry store.
The slide has been enhanced with the top of the slide flattened and serrated with a 30-lpi pattern.
However, that success is obvious now—and the product line reflects it, with numerous variants available of the company’s many popular models. One common theme at Wilson Combat is to offer a full-size 5-inch model and a shorter compact variant with the same features. So, it was a natural progression to offer a compact version of their popular Ultralight Carry Model. The Ultralight Carry is a full-size Government Model 1911 with an alloy frame to reduce the weight.
Gun Details
Wilson has now introduced the Ultralight Carry Compact model. I recently received one of the first ULC Compact models to leave Wilson’s shop. The pistol was shipped in the standard gun rug that is embroidered with the Wilson Combat logo that features a center compartment for the pistol, seven individual magazine pouches on front and two 7×7-inch accessory pouches on the back.
Even with 230-gr. loads, the Wilson ULC Compact was very controllable and comfortable to shoot.
