Not to be outdone by other companies, Wilson Combat has announced that its Recon Tactical and Super Sniper rifles are now available in Federal’s .224 Valkyrie round.

The Wilson Combat .225 Valkyrie Offerings

Described by Wilson as an “all-around” AR for tactical training, hunting or general field work, the Recon Tactical in .224 Valkyrie features a 20-inch match-grade, medium-weight, stainless steel tapered barrel with a 1-6.5 Twist. The barrel is available either fluted or non-fluted. In addition, this model comes with a threaded muzzle with Wilson’s Q-Comp compensator; billet upper and lower receivers; Wilson M-LOK handguard; Rogers Super-Stoc buttstock; Bravo Company Gunfighter pistol grip; and an Armor Tuff finish. The rifle has an overall length of 38 inches and weighs seven pounds empty.

Wilson’s Super Sniper, touted by the company as suitable for “times when extreme accuracy and rapid follow-up shots are the most important criteria when selecting a rifle,” has essentially the same features as the Recon Tactical, except the barrel isn’t tapered.

The new 224 Valkyrie is based on a 6.8 SPC case necked down to .22 caliber. It offers dramatically improved extended range trajectories over all other AR-15 cartridges with roughly half the recoil of .308-based long range cartridges offering comparable ballistics. Shooters can expect best-in-class long range ballistics, supersonic flight past 1,300 yards and extreme long-range accuracy from this cartridge. We have optimized our match-grade barrel twist for the best long-range performance with match bullets. The 224 Valkyrie uses a 6.8 SPC bolt and magazine.

The suggested retail on the Recon Tactical in .224 Valkyrie is $2,600 for fluted and $2,550 for non-fluted.
