Winchester Model 1895: Auction Rifle Will Benefit Cody Firearms Museum

A special-edition Winchester Model 1895 will soon go up for auction. The remarkable rifle comes from collaboration between Winchester Repeating Arms, Baron Engraving and Davidson’s. And proceeds will benefit the Cody Firearms Museum, a treasure to many American gun owners.

Engraved with serial number 1, the special-edition Winchester Model 1895 lever-action rifle features engraving by Baron’s Robert Bunting. He referenced two famous turn of the century rifles for inspiration. One belonged to famed author Zane Gray. The other belonged to Theodore Roosevelt.

The Cody rifle features a fine English scroll pattern on the receiver, magazine housing, upper tang, barrel and thumb safety. It exhibits detailed high relief gold inlaid animal scenes. One side features a grizzly bear and running buck. Meanwhile, a stalking mount line adorns the other side. Inlaid barrel bands grace the muzzle and breach of the octagonal barrel. A high sheen and blued hand finish completes the rifle.

The rifle will auction on GunBroker. Bidding will close at 10 PM MT, Sunday, April 18. All of the proceeds will benefit the Cody Firearms Museum. The donation will help ensure future generations benefit from the museum’s immersive opportunity to learn about firearms.

The auction winner will retain the option of allowing the rifle to display at the museum for up to one year. The winner would also be recognized during this time.
