A year ago, Work Sharp released its Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener, making knife sharpening easier for anyone. The system included a base, tower, clamp and Tri-Brasive rod, with 320- and 600-grit diamond plates and a fine ceramic.

Ensuring easy operation, you simply lock the knife into the clamp, set your angle and start working your steel. The easy operation allows for even novice users to sharpen their favorite knives in a matter of minutes. However, with only one Tri-Brasive rod you could only achieve a simple edge, with no options to refine/hone it. Honing your edge would mean additionally hand stropping it, requiring basic sharpening skills and a strop of some kind.

For this reason, Work Sharp Sharpeners has answered the call of many looking for a finer edge. The answer comes in the form of the Elite system, that builds on the base Precision Adjust. Although the base unit is unchanged, the upgrades take the unit to the next level and offer edge defining additions.

With the new unit comes three Tri-Brasive rods, for increased edge refinement. Starting with the course rod are 220-, 320- and 400-grid diamond plates, to reprofile your edge. Likewise, these grits are good for resharpening an extremely dull blade. Next is the fine Tri-Brasive rod, with 600- and 800-grit diamond plates and fine ceramic plate. Finally, is the leather & ceramic rod, featuring a leather strop and ceramic rod for serrations.

As with the original, the Elite sharpening angles are adjustable, from 15° to 30° for everything from kitchen to outdoors knives. However, a nice addition to the Elite is a carrying case, allowing you to take it with you, whether to deer camp or on a trip. The case additionally serves as a great storage option.

Although the Elite is available as a complete unit, you can purchase the upgrade kit separately. This is a great option for those who already own the Precision Adjust and just want to add additional rods and a carry case.
