The Springfield Hellcat has been making quite an impression in the industry since its release, as has the OSP. XS Sights is the latest company to show its support of the platform, with their Springfield Hellcat OSP night sights. They have two options for the Hellcat OSP, with the R3D Night Sights and DXT2 Big Dot Night Sights.
XS Sights Night Sights for Springfield Hellcat OSP
Utilizing a proprietary photoluminescent Glow Dot technology, XS Sights are visible day and night. This is accomplished by absorbing ambient light and glowing in low light. Likewise, the self-illuminating tritium center dot takes over in dark conditions, when there is no longer ambient light.
Both the DXT2 and R3D are standard height sights and will lower 1/3rd co-witness with the Shield SMSc red dot sight. Additionally, both sets are CNC machined from solid bar stock, increasing their durability. As a result, XS Sights is able to provide a 10-year, no questions asked warranty.
The DXT2 Big Dot sight is designed specifically for EDC and defensive situations, providing enhanced focus on the front site. Its size and luminescence were designed to solve issues of aging and deteriorating eyesight. The rear sight has a unique V-notch shape with a vertical tritium stripe, providing a dot-the-“i,” sight picture.
However, for those that prefer a more traditional notch and post sight picture, the R3D maintains the old standard. The blacked out rear sight helps to increase the contrast against the front sight’s Glow Dot technology. But when the lights go out, it features two tritium dots, working along with the tritium front sight. Although, to ensure focus on the front sight, it is a much brighter color than the rear.
