Back in May of 2023, XTech Tactical announced its MTX 365 magazine extender for the Sig Sauer P365 (below). The first generation of the extender added three extra rounds to the 10-round magazine but was incompatible with the 12- or 15-round magazines. However, following requests from customers, XTech is now offering the extension kit for 12-round magazines.
XTech Tactical Adds 12-Round Magazine Compatibility to the MTX 365 Mag Extender
The MTX 365 is designed to replace all components of the factory magazine for the P365 standard grip module, other than the steel body. Correspondingly, the 12-15 extender shares the same external housing as other MTX 365 models. However, it utilizes a specific custom-engineered 17-7 extended spring, easy-loading follower, and magazine body spacer.
In addition, its unique design allows the extender to work on the Sig magazine body with inward-facing tabs, unlike other extenders. Likewise, this also offers seamless integration with the P365 without affecting your pistol’s aesthetic. Finally, the custom-engineered spring provides unmatched reliability and ensures last-round hold open, according to the company.
The new kit expands the MTX 365 compatibility for both the 10- and 12-round magazines. However, it will not work on 15-round magazines. There is no word yet about whether or not the company intends to add compatibility with 15-round magazines.
The kit is available as a single pack or a three-pack to honor the Sig Sauer P365 Tac Pac. Due to restrictions, the MTX 365 cannot ship to CA, MD, MA, NJ, NY, VT, DC, CT, HI, or WA.
“Due to the dramatically improved ergonomics and feel, the only complaint we have received from our MTX 365 customers is that our 10rd to 13rd magazine extensions have rendered their 12rd Sig Sauer magazines without a home.
“We came up with the 12rd to 15rd kits of our MTX 365 to give good use for our customers who already owned 12rd factory magazines as extended back up magazines. The Sig Sauer P365 has experienced a great deal of popularity since its release. Partly due to its highly concealed carry-friendly size and partly because of its modularity. However, the P365 ships with a low capacity (these days) ten-round magazine. For this reason, XTech Tactical offers the MTX 365 Magazine Extender, which adds three rounds and a pinky extension.

Constructed of the same glass-filled polymer as the Sig P365 frame, the MTX matches the aesthetics of the P365 frame. The texturing on the side panels provides additional grip and helps with rapid extraction, even when wet.
Adding three additional 9mm rounds, the extension brings the overall capacity in the mag to thirteen rounds. Additionally, the MTX is compatible with the standard P365 frame and the Wilson Combat P365 frame.
Featuring an extended baseplate, the MTX helps support the pinky finger to improve overall grip. As a result, you can take your P365 to the grip length of the P365X/XL without moving to the XL frame. Likewise, you can easily move back to a more concealable size by simply swapping out the magazine for the ten-round.
Installing the MTX 365 is straightforward and requires no special tools or modifications. The extension simply slides onto the bottom of the magazine and secures in place with a locking tab. When installed, it utilizes a custom-engineered 17-7 stainless steel spring for optimal reliability and last-round hold open.
The MTX is only compatible with the factory 10-round magazine for the standard P365 frame. It is not compatible with 12- or 15-round magazines.

While extending the magazine capacity is one element, there was no solution that allows the shooter to maintain an ideal grip while using the standard P365-sized frame.
