VIDEO: New ZEISS LRP S5 Riflescopes Built for Long-Range Shooting

With input from precision shooting competitors and shooting instructors, ZEISS releases two new scopes, with real world benefits. The new ZEISS LRP S5 first focal plane riflescopes are feature rich, with precision shooting and long-range hunting in mind.

Available in two models, the 318-50 and 525-56, you have your choice between 3-18×50 and 5-25×56. Correspondingly, the magnification of each model matches its model number. Both models start with 34 mm main tubes and can withstand a massive 1,500 g-force recoil.

Utilizing ZEISS Fluoride lens elements, coupled with SCHOTT glass and ZEISS’s proprietary T-Star lens coatings, both models feature a premium optical design. As a result, the scopes have optimum color fidelity, image brightness, high resolution, and edge-to-edge sharpness within the entire field of view. Additionally, the exterior facing lenses undergo the ZEISS LotuTec protective lens coating process for anti-fogging. The process also repels water, dust, fingerprints and more.

For a total of four options between the two models each offers the choice between two illuminated reticles. The ZF-MOAi and ZF-MRi reticles represent MOA and MRAD smart reticle designs, respectively. With fine line reticle subtensions and floating center dots, they feature reference marks along the main horizontal and vertical lines. They also offer relevant windage hold-offs in the field of view, below centerline.

Providing a finer point of aim against dirty targets and harsh lighting, only the center section has illumination. The digitally controlled diffractive reticle illumination technology creates an ultra-bright daylight visible point of aim. Also, to perverse battery runtime, the auto-off feature is controlled by angle and time sensors.

The external elevation turret incorporates the ZEISS Ballistic Stop feature, for rock solid zero. Likewise, the External Locking Windage Turret feature pulls out to make adjustments and then pushes in to lock the setting.

The MOA-based turrets are adjustable with .25 MOA click values, with 30 MOA of travel per rotation. Whereas the MRAD turret features a more pronounced click at whole MRAD intervals. The LRP riflescopes offer 140 MOA or 40.7 MRAD total elevation adjustment, for target engagement up to 1,500 yards. Long-range target acquisition is additionally aided by a side parallax adjustment, infinitely variable reticle illumination and European-style fast focus eyepiece.

“For longer-range shooting, precision is crucial. With our new ZEISS LRP S5 we have decisively expanded our product line to provide an elite riflescope that can dominate at every competition,” states Kyle Brown – Director of Marketing and Product for Carl Zeiss SBE, LLC. “With the compact and heavy-duty design of these riflescopes we have validated and proven that they are ready to tackle the toughest shooting competitions and the most difficult hunts.”
