An armed citizen engaged the shooter, preventing further loss of life. Another instance involved a mother in Georgia who used a firearm to fend off an intruder attempting to break into her home. These stories are reminders that responsible gun ownership can indeed be a force for good.
Instances of self-defense and the deterrent effect of firearms can contribute to a safer society. Individuals have the means to protect themselves and others from immediate danger thanks to a gun. The debate on gun control must consider the positive impact that firearms can have in preventing harm.
