Hunter ‘Nubs’ Cayll, aka ‘The No-Handed Shooter,’ Talks Competitive Shooting

“No excuses.” That’s Hunter Cayll’s personal motto, and we’d say it’s pretty dang apt. Born with no hands and a bilateral club foot, “Nubs,” as he’s also known, has nevertheless succeeded in spades on the competitive circuit through grit, determination and sheer force of will. In addition to being a member of Team Armalite, he can be seen on the range educating new shooters, as well as lending his knowledge and experience to Nubability Athletics, giving disabled children the opportunity to learn how to shoot.

He’s also seen at a bunch of different industry trade show events, including the granddaddy of them all, SHOT Show 2017 in Las Vegas, which is where we caught up with him. Needless to say, we were eager to sit down for a chat.

In the video above, the “No-Handed Shooter,” another nickname, talks about how he got into firearms and competitive shooting; how he maximizes training time; his favorite shooting discipline; what he has planned for 2017; advice for anybody with a disability trying to achieve a goal; and much more.

Like Hunter says, “No excuses.”
