Beretta has announced plans to manufacture limited number of models from its iconic 90 series pistols.
“In 2015 Beretta celebrates the 100th anniversary of its semi-automatic pistols and the 30th anniversary of the M9, so this is a wonderful time to re-introduce some of our most popular and significant 90 Series models,” Rafe Bennett, Vice President of Product Marketing for Beretta USA, said in a press release.
According to the statement, Beretta USA product management has spent the past year working to incorporate features that its customers have been requesting into some 90 series models, such as the “G” decocker, removable front sights and different slide profiles.
Two pistols from the 90 series which will include updated features are the 92G and 92FS Brigadier. The 92G offers a decock-only action while retaining two safeties, including a firing pin block and rotating striker mechanism. The “G” model starts in double-action mode from the draw, which means it’s easier to use without disengaging the thumb safety. Meanwhile, the 92FS Brigadier features a heavy slide profile which helps reduce felt recoil. It also boasts a removable front sight.
“We are thrilled to let Beretta 90 Series fans know that we have been listening to their feedback,” said John Tamborino, Tactical Product Manager for Beretta USA. “The 90 Series is the flagship of Beretta pistols and is well known throughout the world as one of the most accurate, reliable, and proven pistols on the market. These classic, limited-run models will kick off our anniversary celebration and lay the groundwork for additional 90 series models to be developed in the near future.”
