TriStar LR94: Lever-Action Shotguns in .410 for Field, Home Defense

The shotgun remains one of the most formidable lines of home defense. Better still, they double as field guns for hunters or for pest control. In short, the shotgun does it all. For those that appreciate a good smoothbore, the TriStar LR94 brings a soft-shooting .410 model into the market. Even more interesting, this shotgun comes built on the lever-action platform.

The new LR94 brings a fun and versatile game getter and home defender. Where semi-autos fail, the lever-action design keep on pumping out rounds. The LR94 blends light recoil and rugged durability into a “spectacular field gun that can run virtually any load that fits a 2 12-inch chamber,” according to TriStar.

The LR94 employs a traditional tubular magazine, with a right side loading gate. A shot plug comes installed in the shotgun, but removes via unscrewing the magazine screw cap. The shotgun also utilizes a rebounding hammer and two additional safeties. The primary safety is located on the top of the bolt. When engaged, it blocks the firing pin. A secondary safety activates upon closing the lever and locking the bolt. It blocks the trigger when the action is open, preventing firing.

The LR94, in one of three different finishes–matte black, color-case or matte nickel–retails from $990 to $1,100. For even more info, please visit tristararms.com.

Editor’s Take:

We love a good home defense shotgun around here. But that normally makes us think of a good old fashioned pump gun chambered in 12 gauge. The iconic Remington 870 and Mossberg 590 pumps come to mind. But the lever-action presents an interesting idea still for a reliable defender. The lever-action platform typically runs, and getting one in .410 doubles as a wonderful small-game gun. There’s a lot to like here with the TriStar LR94.
