Bearing Arms editor and vocal Second Amendment supporter Bob Owens died Monday near his home in North Carolina.
Athlon Outdoors would like to extend its condolences to the Owens family and the Bearing Arms community of editors and writers. Bob Owens was a dedicated writer and 2A advocate who will be deeply missed.
Bearing Arms released a statement Tuesday morning, which included the following note:
We did not make an announcement on Bearing Arms because it was more important to us to give the family a day to grieve than to break the story and get clicks. But so help me God, I’ve sat here trying, and still cannot bring myself to report this particular story.
In the end, all that matters is he that will be sorely missed, and the truth is that we will never know what truly happened.
What we do know is that while Bob was a huge part of the 2A world, he was first and foremost a son, brother, husband, father, and friend.
Many of you have been posting wonderful memories and shared stories you have of Bob. The pictures, tributes, and prayers are all much needed and appreciated. I know his family – particularly his daughter – is taking solace in the knowledge that he meant so much to so many of us.
Owens leaves behind a wife and two daughters. A GoFundMe page has been set us in his name to help his family during this difficult time.
