A*B Arms Urban Sniper Stock: The Urban Sniper Stock is compact and lightweight, which is a plus for a precision rifle. This stock can be attached on any rifle or carbine that has a carbine-length buffer tube. A*B Arms calls the stock a “fixed-adjustable” system, which translates to it being a rock-solid stock with no movement or rattle. The buttpad is spring loaded and adjustable in 0.45-inch increments to four positions via a button. The cheek riser adjusts or can be removed. The stock weighs 9.5 ounces and is only 6.7 inches long when it’s in the collapsed position. A Picatinny rail on the bottom allows you to mount a monopod, and ambidextrous QD swing swivel mounts are included.
Battle Arms Development VERT: The VERT collapsible stock measures just 4.75 inches stowed and 8.75 inches fully extended. It achieves this compactness due to an ultra-compact buffer and buffer spring. At only 19.5 ounces, the VERT is lightweight, yet it’s constructed from aluminum and stainless steel. The continuous cheekrest provides an excellent cheekweld no matter which of the stock’s four locking positions is deployed.
Battleline Industries SAPR Gen II: The SAPR Gen II stock is designed for precision work. SAPR stands for “Stock Attachment Precision Rifle,” and users can adjust the comb height, length of pull and buttpad angle (for 360 degrees). The cheekpiece also rotates 90 degrees for left- or right-handed shooters.
BCM Gunfighter: The Bravo Company Manufacturing (BCM) Gunfighter stock was designed from the butt forward for a fighting carbine. The outside is snag-free so it won’t get hung up on gear or inside a vehicle. Made from lightweight polymer, the Gunfighter stock is strong and can take abuse without failing. Also expect no rattle or play. These stocks are available in black, Flat Dark Earth, foliage green and wolf gray.
Command Arms CBS: The lightweight, six-position Collapsible Buttstock (CBS) from Command Arms is adjustable via a lever for fast length-of-pull adjustments. Features include a watertight side compartment that stores four CR123 batteries. The rubber recoil pad offers slip-free placement on your shoulder. The CBS is available in black, green and khaki.
Dead Foot Arms T-Rex: The T-Rex is a five-position-collapsible stock that is truly a minimalist design. The T-Rex works with Dead Foot Arms’ Modified Cycle System (MCS), which allows the stock to be folded—and the AR can still be fired with the stock in the folded position. The T-Rex is constructed of aluminum so it is super-lightweight yet rugged as a club.
Magpul PRS GEN3: Magpul’s previous PRS (Precision Rifle/Sniper) stocks can be found on numerous rifles designed for the utmost accuracy, with solid adjustments for length of pull and cheek height. The new GEN3 version combines that capability with aluminum detent knobs for more precision adjustments. It also has a rubber buttpad for a solid hold, and the cant can be adjusted.
Magpul UBR GEN2: The GEN2 version of Magpul’s UBR (Utility/Battle Rifle) stock now features a fixed cheekpiece for a consistent cheekweld. The length of pull can be adjusted to nine different positions. This stock has the same strength and stability as a fixed stock and is designed to be snag-free. It mounts to receivers with M4 carbine buffers and springs as well as aftermarket A5 buffer systems.
Maxim Defense CQB: Maxim Defense’s CQB stock only adds 5.35 inches to your rifle yet deploys rapidly without having to press a button. Just pull the stock rearward to deploy it in any of its four positions. The CQB also weighs only 18.59 ounces and is manufactured from 7075-T6 aluminum. The stock adds 10 inches to your rifle fully extended, and it easily installs on mil-spec lower receivers.
UTG Pro Model 4 Ops Ready S3: The Model 4 Ops Ready S3 is small and snag-free yet offers six length-of-pull positions. Features include a reversible QD sling swivel housing, a sloping cheekrest for comfortable shooting and a rubber buttpad with a coarse texture for extra traction. The stock’s overall length is only 6.05 inches, and it comes with a six-position buffer tube, buffer, buffer spring, tear-drop ring and castle nut.
Aftermarket AR stocks are customizable so they can be set up for mission-specific scenarios. Compact collapsible AR stocks are well suited for when you need a gun that works well in close quarters or can be stowed and transported easily. With a collapsed stock, the typical AR rifle is easier to maneuver through an enclosed environment like your home and can be adjusted to fit the clothing and gear you are wearing.
Precision stocks offer the best for shooting out to longer distances, when you are probably firing from a prone or well-supported position to make every shot count. We’ve got several types of stocks here, and hopefully this quick roundup will give you a few good ideas for upgrading your AR.
