Knife manufacturers Benchmade have released another knife designed by renowned knifemaker Warren Osborne. New for 2014, the Benchmade 183 Contego is a fixed blade knife with a reverse tanto blade. Machined from CPM-S30V premium stainless steel, the blade has a length of 4.97 inches and a thickness of 0.164 inches. Similar to its folding predecessor, the 810 Contego, the 183 Contego is a tough, reliable knife perfect for tactical use.
The smooth and contoured handle, which has a length of 5.21 inches and a thickness of 0.62 inches, is made from G10 composite. What’s more, the 183 Fixed Contego Knife has an overall length of 10.18 inches. The knife also comes with a multiple position, molded Kydex sheath with an adjustable detent. Latin for “protect” or “shield,” the Contego fixed-blade knife is a tough, durable weapon suitable for a number of different applications. Manufacturer suggested retail price for this new product is either $195 or $210, depending on the finish. It is available with a Plain or ComboEdge/Satin or Black Finish Blade.
