Although the 12-gauge is king of the scattergun, the 20-gauge pulls a close second for its easy handling. As a result, the manageable shotgun is a good choice for home defense since even a smaller-statured family member can operate it. Not to mention, it also pulls double duty for hunting. SDS Imports Offers the Tokarev TX3 20-Gauge for Home Defense, Sport, or Hunting

Building on an aluminum alloy receiver, the TX3 series comes in two models—standard and marine. The standard model features a matte black finish, while the marine model has an electroless nickel plating to inhibit rust and corrosion. As a result, the marine model is ideal for use around salt water.

The TX3 line features a Turkish walnut forend and buttstock, with a thick rubber recoil pad to mitigate felt recoil. However, with a design channeling the Mossberg 500/590, each shotgun is compatible with 500/590 furniture. So, you can customize your TX3 to better fit your intended application—from hunting to tactical to home defense.

Chambered in 20-gauge, each shotgun features a 3-inch chamber and accepts 3-inch or 2 ¾-inch shells. Correspondingly, the tube magazine of the pump action TX3 accommodates four 3-inch or five 2 ¾-inch shells. If you need more rounds, a magazine extension can be added. But, for hunting migratory game birds, the TX3 includes a 3-round magazine limiter.

The shotguns deliver their payload via an 18.5-inch chrome-lined barrel, with the marine model constructed of 4140 chromoly steel. The barrels come equipped with a fiber-optic front sight coupled with an adjustable ghost-ring rear sight mounted on a Picatinny rail. However, the rear sight is removable to make room for a red dot optic or scope.

Both TX3 models come with 3 choke tubes—Cylinder, Modified, and Full—and can accept slugs or steel shot with the proper choke tubes. But, for further options, the barrel is threaded to accept Benelli choke pattern tubes. Running the length of the barrel is a full-length vented heat shield.

Finally, the trigger guard assembly houses the Remington Model 870-style crossbar safety and action release.
