The SIG Sauer P226 is a legend in its own right, but the P226-XFIVE is next level. However, SIG bringing the P226-XFIVE into the LEGION series is the kind of thing that makes any gun lover take note. With enhancements like a slide-integrated expansion chamber, flat face AX3 adjustable trigger, and optic cut slide, accuracy isn’t a question. It’s inevitable.

The SIG Sauer P226-XFIVE LEGION

Building on an alloy frame, the P226-XFIVE LEGION features the LEGION pattern black TXG Tungsten grip panels. The grip, with enhanced magwell, features the LEGION chevron embedded in the stippled sidewalls of the grip panels. In addition, the extended beavertail grip ensures a positive and consistent purchase and helps mitigate the risk of slide bite.

Riding atop the frame is the stainless steel slide with aggressive forward and rear cocking serrations. The end of the slide features an integrated expansion chamber for recoil mitigation and faster follow-up shots. Likewise, suppressor height XRAY3 front and adjustable rear night sights deliver an optimal sight picture. The frame and slide both feature the LEGION Gray finish for added protection and aesthetic appeal.

Additionally, the rear of the slide includes an optic cut for the installation of optics with the ROMEO1 PRO footprint. However, the rear sight is mounted on the optic cut cover plate, so installing an optic requires removing the rear sight. But there is an option that allows you to set it up for co-witnessing. See the Editor’s Note below.

Rounds are sent downrange via the fully adjustable flat-face AX3 trigger system and 4.4-inch 35-degree crowned bull barrel. As a result, users can dial in the performance for the best possible accuracy and control.

Chambered in 9mm, the P226-XFIVE LEGION has a 20+1-round capacity. Each pistol ships with three 20-round steel magazines or three 10-round steel magazines, depending on your state’s laws.

Although the rear sight is attached to the optic cut cover plate, there is still an option for co-witnessing with the plate removed and an optic installed. Sig offers its new P226 XFIVE XRAY3 Suppressor Height Rear Backup Night Sight. So, when you remove the cover plate and install an optic, just install this backup sight to co-witness. The sight runs $79.99 but is a solid solution for a reasonable price.
