Watchtower released its latest variant to its growing line of AR-15-type rifles. The new Watchtower Spec Ops Type 15 Rifle brings SOCOM influence into a high-end carbine built for law enforcement and civilian markets.
Watchtower Spec Ops Type 15 Details
The Spec Ops Type 15 features a receiver set machined from 7075-T6511 billet aluminum. The build includes an ambidextrous charging handle and Watchtower’s own safety selector. The rifle includes an upgraded fire control group with Hiperfire’s EDT2 Heavy Gunner trigger, a single-state, semi-auto LE/SWAT upgrade.
A Tru-Black PVD-coated 5.56 NATO M16 profile MPI-tested Durabolt BCG keeps the rifle running clean. Options include a 16-inch 5.56 NATO cold hammer-forged or .223 Wylde stainless steel barrel. Each utilizes a mid-length gas system. Surrounding the barrel, a 13.7-inch S7M free-float handguard provides M-LOK attachment points. A full-length 1913 Picatinny rail, Watchtower Flat Face compensating muzzle brake, and B5 pistol grip and buttstock round out the build.
“The SPEC OPS Type 15 rifle has been designed for those who enjoy shooting a best-in-class AR-15 platform that honors our military heritage,” said WATCHTOWER CEO Jason Colosky, a former Recon Marine serving throughout Southwest Asia and Southeast Africa. “You can choose between 5.56 NATO or .223 Wylde. It’s a fast-handling rifle designed to perform flawlessly under extreme conditions.”
The Spec Ops Type 15 in .223 Wylde retails for $1,349; $1,599 for 5.56 NATO. Color finishes include Black type III anodized or FDE, OD Green, or Wolf Grey Cerakote. For more info, visit watchtowerfirearms.com.

Editor’s Take:
Ever since Watchtower acquired F-1 Firearms, the company continues to redefine itself. Completely American made and led by a bunch of high-level operator types, Watchtower is building rifles and pistols based on real world use. The no-compromise approach aims to build high-end guns that deliver absolute reliability. So far, they’ve been knocking that premise out of the park.
