Offering increased capacity in a 1911 platform, Kimber offers the new 2K11. See what they did there? Available in 9mm or .45 ACP, the 2K11 is available in standard or target models. In addition, featuring the Kimber signature GT Trigger, each model delivers unwavering accuracy and handling.
Kimber 2K11 High-Capacity 1911
Building on a type III hard anodized aluminum grip module, the 2K11 incorporates elements many consumers have asked for. Surrounding the familiar 1911 grip is wrap-around stippling with matching stippling on the mainspring housing, providing enhanced retention. Likewise, the undercut trigger guard and beavertail grip promote a high purchase for enhanced control during courses of fire.
Forward of the trigger guard, a three-slot Picatinny rail allows for attaching a light or laser. Both models provide a flared magwell for fast reloads. However, the target model features a Kimber-exclusive Stan Chen Customs competition magwell, so you don’t lose precious time during competition. Correspondingly, improved internal geometry enhances the reliability of feeding the high-capacity magazines.
Riding atop the frame is the stylish slide with custom forward and rear cocking serrations. Available with black DLC or coyote PVD coating, the slide features an optic cut and ships with one C&H optic mounting plate for the Trijicon RMR footprint. Differing itself from the standard model, the target model includes slide lightening cuts at the forward cocking serrations.
Included on the slide is a TAG Custom FiberLok 2 front sight. Utilizing FiberLok technology, TAG boasts the most durable Fiber Optic sights on the market. The fibers are machined to fit the billet steel base and prevent melt and mushrooming. Available in a variety of colors, it is easy to customize to the shooter’s needs.
Rounds are delivered through the deep crowned, fluted, and ramped bull barrel via the GT flat-faced Trigger. The trigger delivers a 3-4-pound pull with a clean, crisp break. The 2K11 is made safe with the beavertail safety and ambidextrous thumb safety. In addition, the bushingless design allows for tool-free disassembly for easy cleaning. Finally, the external extractor ensures increased reliability and durability.
Double-Stack Capacity
As mentioned, the 2K11 is a high-capacity 1911 platform. This is made possible via the double-stack magazine design. The .45 ACP model ships with three 13-round magazines included. Similarly, the 9mm model ships with one 17-round magazine and two 20-round magazines. However, additional magazines are available on Kimber’s website for $59.95 (9mm) and $69.95 (.45 ACP).
