Vortex GlassPak Pro

If you are like me, your hunting rig is an attempt to balance bulk and need. In a perfect world, I would carry every conceivable item I would ever need in the field. The reality, though, is that it would weigh a ton. I would also have so much gear on me that movement would be tough.  To manage my gear, I have tried several different rigs. Each one seemed to fall short in some way. I either did not have enough room or had something with 87 pockets and nine feet of Velcro. My search for the perfect rig just came to an end, though. Today, Vortex released its new Vortex GlassPak Pro.

Vortex GlassPak Pro – Modular Pouch and Harness System.

Vortex has always had a deep connection to the hunting world. So when they announce that they have something new for hunters, I pay attention. The new GlassPak accessories line is a modular solution for Western, backcountry, and predator hunters seeking adaptable gear for varying hunting conditions. This new line shines by offering a comprehensive, modular system that is easy to customize and adapt. This flexibility allows hunters to efficiently adjust their gear for various conditions and needs, significantly enhancing functionality, safety, and stealth.

Vortex GlassPak Pro - Modular Pouch an Harness System.

GlassPak Binocular Harness

The modular nature of this system starts with their popular GlassPak binocular harness. This harness lets you carry a full range of full-size binoculars and all the tools you need to glass on the move, keeping everything close at hand and secure so you can focus on the hunt. I have used this harness for my binoculars for a couple of years and love it. It sits snugly against the body, is easily adjustable, and secures my binocular pouch well.  The Vortex GlassPak Pro items attach to that rig. There are seven new products in this line that you can add to your rig.

Quick Draw / Secure Hold Holster

Quick Draw / Secure Hold Holster

First up, we have a quick draw / secure hold holster. Many hunters carry a side arm during hunts for any unpredictable, dangerous situations. The holster clips onto the binocular pouch easily and can be set up for right or left-handed use. It can accommodate both small and full-size handguns as well as revolvers. The holster also fits handguns with optics. It has a retention strap that is easily opened when access is needed.

Bear Spray Pouch

Bear Spray Pouch

Many hunters keep bear spray close at hand. It is essential to have it easily accessible yet secure. With that in mind, Vortex has made the fast-draw bear defense pouch. The pouch holds either an eight-ounce or ten-ounce canister. A drawstring holds it in place, which keeps it secure but quickly accessible.

Laser Rangefinder

Laser Rangefinder

A good laser rangefinder is just as important as a good set of binoculars. Now, with the new Vortex GlassPak Pro, you can have a perfectly sized pouch at your fingertips.  This allows quick and silent access to your rangefinder. The pouch has a microfiber interior that is quiet and protects your range finder from excessive wear and tear. It has a hand bungee-style lanyard that keeps it secure as well. If you already have the harness, then this pouch was included. However, you can choose to purchase it separately as well.

Small and Large Zippered Pouches

Small and Large Zippered Pouches

One thing that I often need is a place to put general items. Vortex understands this and is offering both a small and large zippered pouch. The small pouch has an internal and exterior pocket as well as an elastic accessory holder. Like the laser rangefinder pouch, it is microfiber-lined to keep it quiet. The large zipper pouch is attached to the bottom of the binocular case. This pouch comes with elastic holders that allow you to secure things like extra ammo.

Hand muff

Vortex Hand Muff

Every hunter who has ever walked in cold weather knows the challenge of cold hands. Vortex has designed a hand muff to combat freezing cold hands as part of the Vortex GlassPak Pro. Like all the components of this new line, the muff has a DWR-treated exterior. This repels water and keeps your hands dry. It has a plush lining that creates loft and traps heat. It also has elastic cuffs that seal out cold air. On the exterior of the muff is a zippered storage pocket to secure essentials with easy access.

Vortex GlassPak Pro

Padded Binocular Strap

One last item is the comfort neck strap. Like the laser range finder pouch, this comes with your initial GlassPak binocular harness. However, if you are like me, I have multiple sets of binoculars, which is a great strap. Now, you have a chance to upgrade to modern comfort with a neck strap that’s padded where it counts. It also features quick-release buckles for easy, secure attachment.

Vortex GlassPak Pro

In the end, the modular nature of this system is what appeals to me most. I can quickly and easily reconfigure it as my hunts dictate. If you are looking for a great system to carry your hunt essentials, the Vortex GlassPak Pro is something you should consider.
