Big Thumper: Smith & Wesson Model 1854 Adds .45-70
The Model 1854 blends the classic lines of the American lever-action rifle with modern enhancements. Previous models launched in .44 Rem Mag, .45 Colt and .357 Magnum. Now hunters gain some serious knockdown power with the addition of the timeless .45-70.
The new rifles comes with a 6+1 overall capacity. It utilizes a forged 416 stainless steel receiver and 20-inch 410 stainless steel barrel. An 11/16-24 thread pattern accommodates suppressors. The large loop lever and flat trigger design adds even greater appeal.
The Model 1854 comes fitted with a 5 3/4-inch Picatinny base for adding riflescopes. An adjustable XS Sights ghost ring rear and front gold bead provide backups. A fixed magazine tube feeds the action. The forend adds three M-Lok compatible slots for accessory attachment. A wood-stocked variant retails for $1,499; the synthetic-stocked version retails for $1,399.

Smith & Wesson just announced the latest addition to its wildly popular Model 1854 line of lever-action rifles. The rifle now comes in two different variants chambered in the timeless .45 Colt.
Initially launched in .44 Rem Mag, the Model 1854 features a blend of classic lines with modern manufacturing enhancements. The line offers variants in synthetic black polymer with a stainless steel finish and a walnut-stocked rifle with an Armornite finish.
Each rifle comes with a 9+1 overall capacity and threaded 19 1/4-inch barrel. A 4 3/4-inch Pictainny base provides a mounting surface for optics. Meanwhile, an adjustable XS Sights ghost ring rear sight pairs with a gold bead front sight for a traditional sight picture. A flat-face trigger and removable magazine tube rounds out the package.

Back at SHOT Show, Smith & Wesson dropped some big news with the release of the Model 1854 lever-action rifle series. Now the wildly popular lever-gun gets a new addition with a black Armornite finish and checkered walnut furniture.
Still chambered in .44 Magnum, the new addition features the Armornite finish for corrosion resistance. Walnut furniture pairs with a large lever loop and a smooth action. A flat trigger and 9+1 capacity, threaded 19.25-inch barrel and Picatinny scope mount round out the build.

Model 1854 Series carbines feature 19 1/4-inch barrels chambered in .44 Rem Mag. The rifle delivers a 9+1 overall capacity. A blend of classic aesthetics and modern components, the 1854 pairs a black synthetic stock and forend with a stainless steel metal finish metal parts. M-LOK slots in the forend provide a surface for attaching accessories. The carbine includes a 4 3/4-inch Picatinny base, large loop lever and flat-face trigger. A side loading gate, side ejection and removable mag tube round out the package.
Model 1854 Limited Series
While this carbine shares most of the basic feature set, it stands apart with a classic high-grade satin walnut finish on the stock and forend. A polished black PVD finish on the receive and barrel add to the classic look.
All Model 1854 Series carbines feature an overall length of 36 inches. They come with a 11/16-24 threaded muzzle and an XS Sights adjustable ghost ring rear and gold bead front sight.
