Leupold Lights Up the Mark 4HD With New Illuminated Reticles

Some gear launches reinvent the wheel. Others simply listen to the people behind the trigger. The latest update to the Leupold Mark 4HD family falls squarely into the second category and that’s usually where the magic happens.

Leupold has officially expanded its popular Mark 4HD riflescope lineup by adding illuminated versions of its highly regarded PR2-MOA, PR2-MIL, and PR3-MIL reticles. If you’ve been wishing your favorite precision reticle glowed when the light started fading, congratulations! ?Your emails apparently worked.

Mark 4HD Illuminated Performance

The new illuminated reticles are available in both the 6-24×52 and 8-32×56 first focal plane models, giving long-range competitors, hunters, and professional shooters more flexibility without sacrificing the clean sight picture that made the PR reticles popular in the first place.

Rather than covering the target with enough hash marks to resemble holiday decorations, Leupold’s PR2 and PR3 reticles were designed with input from top competitive shooters, hunters, and precision rifle professionals. The goal was simple: provide rapid holdovers, quick corrections, and precise aiming without unnecessary clutter.

According to Leupold Product Line Manager John Snodgrass, illuminated versions were one of the most requested additions after the original reticles debuted. Now those requests have become reality.

Built for Everywhere

Beyond the new illuminated options, the Mark 4HD lineup continues to deliver the features that earned it a reputation among serious shooters. Every model features a 4:1 zoom ratio, 34mm maintube, and Leupold’s Professional-Grade Optical System, providing excellent light transmission, glare reduction, and edge-to-edge clarity.

The illuminated models use Leupold’s push-button controls and Motion Sensor Technology, automatically shutting illumination off after five minutes of inactivity before instantly reactivating the moment the rifle moves. It’s a smart feature that saves battery life because Murphy’s Law says dead batteries only happen when the trophy buck or match-winning target finally appears.

Ready for Anything

The Mark 4HD also includes Leupold’s ZeroLock elevation turret system to prevent accidental adjustments while allowing shooters to return to zero quickly. Select models also feature a matching ZeroLock windage turret.

Like every Leupold riflescope, the Mark 4HD is waterproof, fogproof, shockproof, and backed by the company’s lifetime guarantee. Better yet, it’s still designed, machined, and assembled in Beaverton, Oregon.

For shooters looking to stretch the distance, or simply make the reticle easier to see when conditions turn less than ideal, the latest Mark 4HD additions check a lot of boxes without adding unnecessary complexity. Sometimes the best upgrades are the ones shooters have been asking for all along.
