Ruger has released several new firearms as of late, including the compact, super-affordable EC9s and the mid-sized Security-9. Viridian is now delivering laser sights for each of these pistols.

First, Viridian has announced that its E-Series red laser is compatible with the EC9s and Security-9. The E-Series unit is made from high strength, thermo molded polymer and mounts to the trigger guard of the gun. Ideal for concealed carriers, the laser offers up rapid target acquisition for when it’s needed most. The unit runs on one 1/3 n battery which has a battery life of six hours.
Also available for the EC9s is the Reactor R5 green laser. Touted as being up to 50 times brighter than red, each Reactor laser comes with a microfiber IWB holster equipped with Viridian’s Instant-On technology, which ensures that the laser is activated when the gun is drawn.
Meanwhile, Viridian’s universal C-Series and X-Series laser/light combos are also compatible with the Security-9 handgun. Boasting bright green and red lasers, “brilliant” taillights, instant-on, cree LED and multiple modes of operation, the C-Series and X-Series lets you “dominate the day or night,” Viridian says.
Chambered in 9mm, the striker-fired Ruger EC9s has a short, light, crisp trigger pull. It weighs in at 17 ounces empty and is only slightly larger than the Ruger LCP. The gun features a three-inch barrel and comes with an integrated trigger safety, manual safety, magazine disconnect and inspection port that provides visual confirmation of a loaded or empty chamber. It has a seven-round capacity and is available at a MSRP of $299.

“We take pride in giving customers instant access to Viridian sighting solutions when popular firearms are introduced,” said Viridian President and CEO Brian Hedeen. “If someone buys a new Ruger EC9s today, they can also pick up one of our E Series or Reactor lasers. When paired together, the EC9s and Viridian laser will give customers an unbeatable and affordable defensive combo.”
The Security-9 is also chambered in 9mm and uses a 15-round, double-stack magazine. This mid-sized option has a four-inch barrel, weighs 23.7 ounces empty and features a blued, through-hardened alloy steel slide and glass-filled nylon grip frame. The gun has a number of safety features, including a bladed trigger safety, manual safety, neutrally balanced sear and hammer catch. MSRP on the Security-9 is $379.
“When paired with the Security-9, our E Series option makes it the ultimate concealment set-up—delivering powerful target acquisition at an affordable price,” Hedeen added.
The press release doesn’t list the MSRP for these lasers, but a quick visit to Viridian’s website reveals that the E-Series models are available for $132. The C-Series and X-Series options are priced a little higher.
