American Express recently sent a letter to Trailblazer Firearms demanding the company stop using AMEX’s likeness, referring to the LifeCard pistol specifically. The letter also included an absurd request for information on Trailblazer customers.

American Express demanded Trailblazer remove any images or products that feature “the use of American Express’s trademarks including … the image of American Express’s Centurion Card and its component elements, as well as of the American Express trademark, and on all websites and social media sites.”

OK, don’t use their likeness, fair enough. But American Express went a step further, demanding Trailblazer Frearms provide the names and addresses of the individuals that purchased any products. What?!? AMEX further demanded Trailblazer provide the name of an individual holding the product in a previous campaign. Seriously, we’re not kidding.

“The size and surface area of the LifeCard is a perfect platform for a variety of finishes,” said Aaron Voigt, founder and president of Trailblazer Firearms. “When I saw the LifeCard engraved in the style of an actual AMEX credit card I thought it was really clever since many people don’t believe our marketing efforts that claim the gun is actually the size of a credit card.”

However, Trailblazer Firearms agreed not to use the AMEX image in its marketing.The company further agreed that American Express maintains no association with Trailblazer Firearms. Neither may Trailblazer Firearms display any products or likenesses of AMEX.

It offers “We The People” Special Edition LifeCard .22LR and the American Flag Special Edition LifeCard .22LR. The LifeCard fits discreetly in a pocket.
