VIDEO: Sen. Amy Klobuchar Says Gun Buyback ‘Not Gun Confiscation’

In what is shaping up to be “Gun Election 2020,” Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar fired off a zinger about a proposed gun buyback program during the first 2020 Democratic primary debate. She claimed a mandatory gun buyback did not equate to gun confiscation, to the collective groan of 2A supporters everywhere.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar Wants Gun Buyback Program

A mandatory buyback is nothing but gun confiscation, Senator. If you take tax dollars I don’t want to give you, and you require those be spent to unfairly trade for private arms you never sold me, that’s confiscation. We didn’t authorize you to use our tax dollars this way. You didn’t sell us our guns. And we never agreed to allowing you to “buy them back.”

“Well, that’s not gun confiscation because you give them the offer to buy back their gun,” Klobuchar said, as reported by washingtonexaminer.com.

Well, Senator, if it’s just an offer then we decline. But seeing as you struggle with the English language, you might think “offers” means something entirely different.

Since that point obviously made no sense, the Minnesota Democrat quickly pivoted to the tried-and-true liberal gun control narrative of guns for hunting.

“I look at these proposals and I say, ‘Does this hurt my uncle Dick and his deer stand’ coming from a proud hunting and fishing state? These ideas don’t do that,” Klobuchar bloviated.

Senator, we implore you and “Uncle Dick” to read the Constitution you swore to defend. Nowhere in it does it guarantee the right to hunt. Instead, it acknowledges the right of all Americans to keep and bear arms. So since you’re just making an offer on that buyback, we’ll pass. We’ll “keep” our arms. And we’ll continue to pray our government never makes us “bear” them.
