SureFire’s original Turbo Series lights were game changers when they were introduced in the 1990s. They pushed the boundaries of existing technology to achieve astonishingly far-reaching illumination. Today, the all-new Turbo Series has once again raised the bar. The SureFire X300T Turbo WeaponLight® is one of the newest members of this impressive lineup. It’s a real winner.
Key Features of the SureFire X300T Turbo
One of the standout features of the X300T is its impressive peak beam intensity of 66,000 candela. It’s one of the highest-candela pistol lights available. This is achieved through a proprietary precision-engineered Turbo reflector that keeps the footprint the same as the X300U and delivers a tightly focused, far-reaching beam with an exceptional hotspot.
There’s still ample spill. The light produces 650 lumens, balancing output and runtime. The color temperature is on the cooler side, typical of modern high-output LEDs. However, the beam is smooth and artifact-free.
The Turbo beam isn’t only about aiding target discrimination/PID and background awareness at long distances. It’s also about its ability to penetrate through smoke, fog, tinted windows/windshields, down long, narrow corridors, and around barricades while minimizing light bounce. It can also overcome or create photonic barriers.

A photonic barrier occurs when a light source is so bright or directional that it prevents objects or individuals beyond or adjacent to it from being identified, thus concealing their visibility from the observer. The intense light can also temporarily impair the vision of the threat.
The X300T is crafted from high-strength 6061-T6 aluminum. Likewise, it is Mil-Spec hard anodized for extreme durability and resistance to scratches and corrosion. It has a durable, scratch-resistant borosilicate glass lens.
O-ring and gasket sealed, the light is IPX7 waterproof. As a result, it can be submerged in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes without compromising its functionality. This robust construction ensures that the light can withstand the rigors of daily use in harsh environments.
Two X300T Models
The X300T comes in two models: the X300T-A and the X300T-B. They differ only in their attachment systems. I opted for the X300T-A. Both models can attach securely to Universal and Picatinny Rails.
The X300T-A features a Lever Latch quick-release attachment system. This permits secure and rapid attachment and easy removal from Universal and Picatinny accessory rails. The package also includes a Rail-Lock® attachment system, which can be installed if desired. It replaces the Lever Latch to provide a very secure attachment platform.

The X300T-B features a T-slot thumbscrew clamp for secure attachment. While the X300T-B can still be removed relatively easily, it doesn’t offer the same quick-release capability as the X300T-A’s Lever Latch attachment system.

SureFire recommends the X300T-A for polymer frames to eliminate the risk of overtightening, which can impact pistol cycling. The X300T-B can also be used on polymer frames if care is taken not to overtighten the thumbscrew. What works best for you ultimately comes down to personal preference.
Operating the X300T
The X300T features the highly regarded X-Series ambidextrous push/toggle switch. It offers press-and-hold momentary activation and toggle up or down for constant-on activation from either side. The toggle switch is designed to be fairly stiff to prevent inadvertent constant-on activation. However, due to this stiffness, care must be taken when toggling it off to avoid over-toggling and turning the light back on.
Lacking a grip switch, activating a handgun-mounted light with the thumb of your support hand is generally advised to avoid the risk of a negligent discharge. Using the index finger of your shooting hand to activate the light can be risky, especially under stress. For surgical control, SureFire offers the DG grip switch as an accessory for the X-Series.

The light runs on common 123A lithium batteries. The X300T offers a runtime of 1.5 hours on two CR123A batteries, included with the light. This is sufficient for most tactical applications. Although LFP rechargeable batteries are available from SureFire, they produce significantly less runtime. The light must be removed from the handgun to replace the batteries.
The X300T has performed exceptionally well in my testing and exhibits excellent regulation throughout its runtime. It emits maximum light for about a minute, then steps down to produce a consistent amount for most of the remaining runtime before gradually decreasing. This prevents overheating and ensures optimal performance.
The light performs consistently through repeated on-off cycles, and there’s no flickering during shooting.
Other Considerations
The X300 family has been a staple in the tactical community for years, resulting in a wide variety of available holster options. This extensive holster compatibility ensures you can find a suitable holster for your specific needs, whether for duty use, concealed carry, or other applications.
The X300T is a full-size light, which may be a consideration depending on the application. Additionally, the X300T is one of the more expensive lights on the market. While it offers exceptional performance and durability, the higher price point may be a consideration for budget-conscious buyers.

Final Thoughts
The X300T is a top-tier lighting solution that combines durability, performance, and versatility. Its high-candela beam, robust construction, and intuitive user interface make it an outstanding choice. If you’re running an X300U and want more candela, the X300T is a no-brainer.
However, if you feel that you need a lot of flood, the X300U may be the better option. Choosing the best beam configuration isn’t a one-size-fits-all decision.
The X300T has a MSRP of $379.00 and is available in your choice of black or tan. All SureFire illumination products are designed and manufactured in the U.S.A. They come with a 30-day Money-Back Satisfaction Guarantee and are covered by the SureFire No-Hassle Warranty.
I’ve been using SureFire lights for over two decades. They’ve never failed me.
