Night vision can be a great equalizer in low-light situations. And like anything else, it is only better with performance-enhancing accessories. The Armasight Watchman IR Illuminator

Constructed of aircraft-grade 6061 T6 aluminum, the Watchman is built to be shockproof. For this reason, it can handle the recoil of large caliber rifles or a fall from a moderate height. Likewise, the IP67 waterproof rating protects the Watchman when submerged in one meter of water for thirty minutes. As a result, the illuminator can handle whatever elements and conditions you subject it to.

If desired, the push button tail cap allows the Watchman to be used as a handheld device. However, if you prefer to mount it to your firearm, a provided tape switch provides firearm-mounted applications. The 30mm ring provides easy installation on a firearm or night vision device.

The illuminator has three brightness settings, powered by 850nm, 600 mW Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) technology. Likewise, it can focus its beam to as low as 3 degrees and as wide as a 14-degree field of view. For this reason, the Watchman can enhance target identification beyond 500 yards.

Operating on a single rechargeable 18650 battery, the Watchman provides a runtime of 15 hours on low, 8 hours on medium, and 5 hours on high. However, if you run out of power in the field and have no charging device, the illuminator will also run on two CR123 batteries. Since IR illuminators are invisible to the naked eye, a small red indicator light on the tail cap notifies you if it is on. This will help prevent inadvertent power loss.
