Brownells recently announced the release of one serious piece of work bench equipment. The Brownells Gunsmith Vice comprises a heavy-duty bench vice built to meet the exacting needs of professional gunsmiths and enthusiasts.

Forged in Germany, the vice features precision-aligned jaws with hardened faces. Optional bases and easy-to-swap jaws provide versatility for users. Built from high-grade steel, the vice should prove tough and robust. It comes with 4 3/4-inch jaws capable of delivering high torque without flexing. So it should handle any barrel job.

Users can reverse or replace the base jaws, offering both smooth and checkered textures faces. Magnetic jaw inserts, sold separately, provide additional customization for specific work. The vice bolts directly to a workbench or to optional rotating bases.

The Brownells Gunsmith Vice comes compact in size. But it rates large enough for major jobs. The classic green finish looks retro, but it also protects against corrosion.

The vice also features a centrally positioned spindle with a double-action, rolled trapezoidal thread for optimal clamping force. Electro-galvanized for corrosion resistance, the spindle assembly includes a precision spindle bearing and forged spindle nut for added strength. The zin spindle key, with riveted safety rings, adjusts via a single screw.
