Legacy Sports International just announced its newest shotgun, under the Citadel line, dubbed the Boss 25. Legacy describes the Citadel Boss 25 as an AR-style semi-automatic 12-gauge shotgun.

Citadel Boss 25
In 2018, Citadel came out with the RS-S1, a Molot VEPR-type shotgun, much like the Saiga 12, both based on the legendary AK design. These types of shotguns have gained tremendous popularity of late as both defensive and 3-gun platforms, with companies such as Dissident Arms arguably coming closest to perfecting the Saiga and VEPR designs.
At first glance, the Boss 25 certainly looks like an AR-15-type design. The controls, including the magazine release and safety switch, appear to be in the familiar location. What isn’t clear from first reports is the gas design. We’ve seen other shotguns in the past use more of a Remington 1100-type system and call it AR-style. Hopefully we can find out more about this system soon.
What remains clear is that the box-fed, semi-auto shotgun remains popular. And companies are likely to keep tinkering with designs until a definitively reliable system comes forth at a reasonable price. Listed at a mere $579, the Boss 25 would fill that criteria.
