The Democrats and the White House continue their multi-pronged assault on the Bill of Rights. With each day, the sound bytes elevate in their outrageousness. Democratic officials continue to spread misinformation and lies at a grand scale, all in attempt to win the day and pass massive gun control laws. But is the charade beginning to show its first cracks? Even CNN recently reported the ridiculousness of a few Joe Biden gun control lies recently.
Biden Gun Control Lies
Beating the drum to gather support for his coming Executive Actions on guns, Biden took to the stage recently. His Rose Garden announcement proved riddled with lies and misrepresentations.
Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms
Biden wants to repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. The law protects the firearm industry from frivolous lawsuits. Biden said “the only industry in America–a billion-dollar industry–that can’t be sued–has exempt from being sued–are gun manufacturers.”
“This is false,” reported CNN. “Gun manufacturers are not entirely exempt from being sued, nor are they only industry with some liability protections.” If you don’t think gun companies can get sued, just ask Remington. In a case that went all the way to the Supreme Court, Remington lost its attempt to block a lawsuit from the families of victims from the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting.
Some argue the lawsuit proved one of the largest factors in Remington going under, its brands sold off to the highest bidders last year. Of course, Biden wants this very outcome for every black gun manufacturer in our industry.
The Gun Show Loophole
Biden claimed “If you walk into a store and you buy a gun, you have a background check. But you go to a gun show, you can buy whatever you want and no background check.”
“This framing from Biden is misleading, since it leaves the false impression that gun shows are exempt from background check laws,” reported CNN. “Purchases at gun shows are not exempt from background checks, which are required on purchases from licensed gun dealers whether you are in a gun store, a gun show or anywhere else. Only purchases from private sellers, whether at a gun show or elsewhere, do not require a background checks in most states.”
Gun show sales come overwhelmingly from businesses. Those businesses set up at gun shows for the large audience, the volume of sales. But it’s all still business. But Biden wants to take away private citizens’ right to private sales. No thank you, Mr. President.
Red Flag Laws
Biden claimed states passing red flag laws have “seen a reduction in the number of suicides in their states.”
“Suicide numbers have worsened in both states with red flag laws and states without red flag laws,” reported CNN.
At best, the data on red flag laws remains inconclusive. At worst, Biden’s statement proves yet another lie on guns. It appears, at this time, red flag laws bring no quantifiable effect on bringing down suicides.
So there you have it. Our president lied, multiple times. He lied so blatantly one of the most left-leaning news organizations in the world had to call him out on it.
But let’s not get it twisted. CNN and every other mainstream news agency continues to repeatedly get it wrong on guns. From the terminology to the slight up hand in word choice, their agenda remains clear. The presentations suggest everyone in the entire world agrees that “assault weapons” are bad. They assert no one needs “high-capacity magazines.” We must pass reform to curb “gun violence.”
Their narratives on guns remain the most politicized, one-way messages in today’s pop-culture. And of those messages carry other Biden gun control lies to the masses.
