Ed Brown First Responder Tool Doubles as EDC Blade, Emergency Kit

Now here’s a piece of gear everyone should have in their kit, whether you’re law enforcement, EMT or civilian. The Ed Brown First Responder Tool, created in partnership with Hogue, brings serious utility into a handheld blade/multi-tool.

The partnership already produced one EDC-type blade, the Able Lock Folder. Now the effort turns to a combo package, bringing characteristics suitable for everyday carry, with the additional bonus of enhanced utility. An ABLE lock secures the 3.5-inch Bohler N680 stainless steel, serrated sheepsfoot blade in place. Ed Brown claims it deploys easily, while maintaining a positive lock. A thumb-deployed strap cutter blade and glass breaker brings serious capability should emergency arise.

The reversible, deep pocket clip allows for tip up carry and ease of deployment. G10 scales with Ed Brown’s signature Snakeskin texture provide an attractive yet positive grip. The scales come finished off with the Ed Brown logo.

“We strive to meet the needs of our customers,” said John May, sales and marketing director, Ed Brown Products. “Whether it be our handguns, parts and accessories, or our new knife line, we want to ensure our customers can come to Ed Brown for all of their needs, finding high quality and high performance products.”

The First Responder Tool retails for $199.95. For even more info, please visit edbrown.com.

Editor’s Note:

Several of us around the office keep a multi-tool like the First Responder Tool in our vehicles. It could serve as an awesome backup as an EDC blade should you leave the house without one. Throw in the glass breaker and strap cutter, and it’s a no-brainer. Most modern vehicles maintain a nook or cranny perfect for stuffing such a tool. We recommend you get one and stash it in your ride. We hope you never need it, but it pays to be ready.
