First Look: Meet The New Arex Rex Zero 1S

The Slovenian-made Rex Zero 1S standard model, imported by FIME Group LLC, offers shooters a great deal of capability at a very reasonable price. Manufactured by Arex (an ISO:9001-certified manufacturer), the pistol features a traditional double-action/single-action (DA/SA) system of operation with a decocker. In addition, the pistol is capable of being carried “cocked and locked,” similar to a 1911. Both the magazine release and the safety are ambidextrous for ease of use, and the slide release doubles as the decocker. The standard pistol holds 17+1 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

The pistol features a 7075-T6 aluminum alloy frame with a steel locking block insert (for steel-on-steel contact with the barrel) and a steel slide. Both are manufactured from solid bar stock. The slide rides on full-length frame rails for enhanced performance. The one-piece, cold-hammer-forged barrel is also made from solid bar stock, and helps contribute to the pistol’s expected 30,000-round count lifespan. A Picatinny rail on the dust cover makes it easy to add mission-critical accessories like lights, lasers and combination units, and fast-targeting high-profile sights round out the package. The suggested MSRP is $599.
