The FN 15 TAC3 and TAC3 Duty Carbines Offer Improved Ergonomics

Over the years the AR-style rifle has grown in popularity for both target shooting and personal/home defense. This can be partly attributed to a highly customizable platform, coupled with a high magazine capacity. For this reason, firearms manufacturers, like FN America, are always looking to improve the platform with offerings like the 15 TAC3 and TAC3 Duty.

The FN 15 is available in two different models, the TAC3 and TAC3 Duty. Correspondingly, both carbine platforms are built from a true MIL-SPEC foundation. As a result, they are high-pressure tested. Additionally, they feature a magnetic particle-inspected bolt, M16-style bolt carrier group, mid-length gas system, and H-buffer.

Constructed of FN’s proprietary chrome-moly vanadium steel, the cold-hammer-forged 16-inch government-profile barrel features chrome lining. This helps to ensure an extended barrel life. The barrel is additionally fully free floated within an extended handguard.

With a new ambidextrous charging handle and low-profile, reversable selector switch made by Radian, the TAC3 comes ready for either hand. Also, custom furniture like a 6-position, collapsible buttstock with integrated QD mount and ergonomic pistol grip improves handling and maneuverability.

The TAC3 features a Hodge Defense-designed wedge-lock rail system with proprietary barrel nut with anti-rotation technology. Measuring nearly 15 inches, the rail contains a continuous picatinny rail and multiple M-LOK slots for additional lights, optics or accessories.

However, the TAC3 Duty features a 15-inch Midwest Industries rail system with full-length picatinny rail, five integrated QD mounts and multiple M-LOK attachment points.

Both models are available in black anodize, although the TAC3 is also available in factory Cerakote (FDE or tungsten gray).
