In what will likely be considered the greatest duo since Beavis and Butt-head, Ballistic Magazine has partnered up with Gun Drummer for the ultimate shooting experience combining guns and heavy metal. This has been in the works for a while, so we’re incredibly psyched about this one.

It’s no secret that Ballistic Magazine is fond of the metal community. Remember when we featured Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan on the front cover of our spring 2017 issue? Or how about when Phil Labonte, frontman of Massachusetts metal band All That Remains, joined our good pal and noted metal head Pat McNamara on the cover of our summer 2018 “American-Made Metal” issue.
Wait … What’s a Gun Drummer?
Firstly, it’s not a “what?”; it’s a “who?” And “Gun Drummer” is actually Nate Wilkinson. Nate’s a great guy. He loves guns, heavy metal, and long walks on the beach. We’re actually not sure about that last part, but the first two are Nate’s bread and butter. He takes metal songs — usually those ripe with breakdowns (don’t worry, you’ll learn the metal terminology soon enough) — and syncs the drums in real-time to his shooting. He’s a modern-day Mozart … with guns.
Previously, Nate has covered some metal bands you might know, like System of a Down, Lamb of God, and Slipknot. He’s also covered some others you might not have heard of, like Whitechapel, August Burns Red, and After the Burial. Regardless, it’s very easy to get into every cover he does. Make sure you check out his YouTube channel for a full list.
