The Headrest Safe Now in a Removeable Slide Out Version

Earlier this year, we reported on the Headrest Safe, which replaces your vehicle’s headrest (below). The safe provides a clandestine means of securing your firearm and other valuables in your vehicle, completely out of sight. Now, the company offers a Slide version that allows you to remove the safe and take it with you.

The Slide Headrest Safe

Like the original, the Slide Headrest Safe is constructed of 18-gauge steel with a 16-gauge steel door. With a design that blends in with your vehicle’s interior, the heavy-duty construction prevents unauthorized entry. However, it also features a ½-inch foam rubber covering wrapped in leatherette to blend in better and provide maximum comfort.

The latest two-piece Slide version also functions as a removable, easy-to-carry lockbox. An off-shoulder strap makes carrying it to and from your vehicle easy and comfortable. In addition, if you have multiple vehicles, you can add the housing to each vehicle and move the Slide from vehicle to vehicle.

Likewise, the Slide is TSA-compliant, enabling you to remove it at the airport and place it in your luggage with your pistol. Access is granted via biometrics, a user-programmable keypad, or a mechanical key and 2 AAA batteries provide power for up to a year. Correspondingly, the Slide can only be removed once the safe is unlocked for additional security.

With a universal design, the two-post system can be easily installed without tools or modifications (video below). Likewise, only the owner or installer can remove it once installed. In addition, the symmetrical design allows it to be installed on either the driver or passenger side.

Users can program any code between 4-8 digits, while the biometric thumbpad accepts up to 48 user entries. Operating on 2 AAA batteries, the safe can run for up to one year before needing a battery replacement.

Installation of the Headrest Safe is easy and compatible with virtually all vehicles with a two-prong post headrest pattern. Once the headrest is installed, it locks in place and can only be removed by you.

It is designed to be installed on the passenger side for easy accessibility by the driver. However, duty officers may opt to install it on the driver’s side for quick access to firearms secured when exiting the vehicle. This is perfect for court appearances, etc. An additional headrest is available to ensure that you have matching, identical headrests in your vehicle.
