Hogue Introduces The X5 Button Lock Flipper

Hogue Inc. continues to expand their line of knives with the release of the all-new X5 Button Lock Flipper. Boasting “revolutionary deployment technology,” this knife “features our robust button lock mechanism” and “also houses our patent-pending blade retention device. This unique device retains the blade in the closed position allowing the user to create stored up kinetic energy before the blade is released,” explained custom knifemaker Allen Elishewitz in a statement.

According to the press release, the button lock is mounted beneath the frame into recessed stainless steel bolster plates to guarantee rigidity and long wear. A manual safety button enables the knife to be locked in the open position. With a simple press of the lock button, the knife can be closed with one hand without placing fingers in the path of the closing blade.

The X5 features a cryogenically heat-treated CPM154 stainless steel blade with either a tumbled tone wash or kiln baked black Cerakote finish. Meanwhile, the X5 handle is created from 6061 T6 aircraft aluminum and is anodized in black or blue. In addition, some models feature an inlay of Hogue’s G-Mascus® Black G10 with their mini-piranha grip texture for added traction and superior comfort.
