Ray “Cash” CARE Tells All

The latest issue of SKILLSET mag features a man that needs little introduction. Ray “Cash” Care is a former Navy Seal who has spent the better part of his life ensuring the world is a safer place for us to live in. Even after his extensive military career ended, CASH continued to serve by contracting, teaching, and traveling the world as a motivational speaker, helping others to reach their full potential.

Athlon Outdoors Contributor Andy Grossman recently sat down with Cash to discuss his life and learn what makes Ray Cash Care keep moving forward.

AG: Who is Cash, and what did you do in the Navy?

Cash: Who is Cash? Well, I am a 51-year-old Baltimore native who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks. I had a shitty childhood to say the least. My father was murdered when I was just 11years young. That forced me to figure a lot of shit out on my own. I had a quick temper and was a bit of a troublemaker most of my childhood.

As far as the Navy, when I joined the navy, my goal was always to be a navy SEAL. With that said, I had to take the ASVAB (Armed services vocational aptitude battery) 3 damn times to get the combined score needed to pursue my dream to become a Navy SEAL. I finally got it together and I started with BUDS (basic underwater demolition/ seal training) Class 200 with over 140 young studs. Only 12 of those original 140 that started with class 200 finished with 200. I am damn proud to say I am one of the 12!

AG: What’s the best thing you saw during your time in the Navy?

Cash: Obviously, being in a special ops’ community, you were looking through a different lens than most. Some of the greatest things that I have seen is that, even though we’ve had to go serve our country, and do things that no one else honestly is willing or capable of doing the growth from what we do and did help created and rebuild countries. Seeing that work paying off is the best thing about serving our country.

AG: So, what led you to serve?

Cash: As I said before, I was going down the wrong path as a kid. For me, I knew I had a higher purpose, and if I didn’t do something soon, I was going to jail so I found my calling, I sought it out and knew I want to do what was the hardest thing to do on planet earth. That was to become a US. Navy SEAL.
